The D.C Beltway sniper is dead

The families of the victims of the DC sniper’s attacks say they’re finally at peace after John Allen Muhammad was executed last night in Virginia.

Muhammad went on a killing spree in 2002, killing ten people and wounding three others while shooting from the back of his car in the Washington D.C area.

After a seven-year trial, he was sentenced to death by Virginia’s Supreme Court and was executed at 9pm at the Greensville Correctional Center in Virginia. The executed man – who was forty-eight-years old –was sentenced to capital punishment due to the evidence that the murders were part of an act of terrorism.

Muhammad’s accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, who was seventeen at the time of the shootings, is serving a life sentence in jail.
